Theme looks at motivation from the instructor's point of view and how a person can be a better communicator or, in this case, a better instructor. Describes what motivation is. Discusses why motivation is important. Also describes how motivation relates to adult learners as far as experiencing success, making choices and finding meaningful experiences, and seeing learning as pleasurable. Looks at practical as well as theoretical ways to motivate adults. Discusses and considers different factors important for motivation, and describes the core characteristics of a motivating instructor. Avoids jargon. Includes humorous examples, planning suggestions, and practical motivation theory and methods. Is quite wordy but is a good, practical book.
