What is a tentative orthography?

Definition

A tentative (stage one or trial) orthography is a flexible, probationary orthography designed for limited use. It enables you to test the suitability of your symbol choices for reading and writing.

Warning

Some SIL entities have criteria for the stages of orthography development. You should follow the criteria established by your entity of assignment.
