Teaching patter is the specific verbal instruction that the teacher gives to the students.

Examples
 

An example of teaching patter used with the Laubach instructional program is:

 

Teacher points to the word 'bird' and says to the student, "This word says 'bird'. Say 'bird'." (Student responds.) Teacher says, "This is the part of 'bird' that says 'buh'. Say 'buh'."
