Developing materials to teach reading and writing

Developing materials for an instructional program can be quite simple, or quite involved, depending on the instructional program that is suitable for the area where you are working. In all programs, however, it is essential that the local people be involved in the development of the materials.

Here are some prerequisites for developing materials to teach reading and writing:

• You need to complete all the preliminary research and planning.

• You need to know what materials are needed for the instructional program you have chosen.

• Develop primers.
• Develop teaching aids.
• Develop teachers guides.
• Develop other materials as needed.
