Reference

Franklin, Joice A. 1982. "Using drama to teach literacy principles to mother tongue translators." READ: Promoting Literacy and Literature. Interest level: lay specialist.

Summary

Details how drama was used in a course for mother tongue translators. Goal was to alert translators to the literacy needs of their home areas so their Bible translations would be widely read. Each day the course had a theme that staff members illustrated through skits and followed with questions to generate discussion. Some themes were, "Why literacy in the mother tongue?" and "What literacy materials are needed?"
