Summary

Is based on a study of 123 adults reading at grade levels 1--8 and describes two stages of reading development. In the first stage at levels 1--3, readers relied equally on print-based strategies and language-based strategies. In the second stage, there was an increase in the ability to use language knowledge to integrate and predict. Compares these stages with those proposed by reading theorists.

Evaluation
	Evaluator found this difficult to integrate into personal, current knowledge base of reading. Perhaps a more experienced person will find the information useful.
