What is an alphabet?

An alphabet is a set of letters, characters, or symbols that indicate letters or speech sounds. An alphabet is often arranged in a customary order.

Here is an example of the English alphabet:

• a b c d e f g h i j k l m n o p q r s t u v w x y z
