—Isthmus Zapotec, spoken in Mexico, was losing ground to Spanish, in spite of years of language development activity. Recently, an Isthmus Zapotec grammar was published. A local radio station aired a program highlighting this grammar.— Suddenly, it became much more acceptable to use Zapotec. The people took pride in their own language in a way they hadn't before and they recognized that it is in fact a real language just as much as Spanish is.
