SIL's dedication to language development past and present
SIL has a rich history of developing and using linguistics consultants at various levels, from local to international. These consultants serve in a number of ways, working with both expatriate researchers and mother tongue speakers of the languages under investigation. Consultants may work with individuals, helping them to understand and analyze complex aspects of the grammar, for example, or working with them to prepare a paper for publication. Consultants may also lead workshops covering some aspect of linguistics. Many SIL consultants also teach at one of the many SIL training programs.
