Este cuento original, escrito por Plácido Hernández Pérez en el náhuatl (azteca)
de Mecayapan y Tatahuicapan, Veracruz, México, trata de un joven que para casarse
tuvo que pasar diferentes pruebas de trabajo. Incluye costumbres que hoy en día
ya no se practican en Mecayapan ni en Tatahuicapan, tales como la prueba de trabajo
y la manera en la que el muchacho se hincaba delante de cada invitado. Algunas
costumbres todavía se practican, como la de hacerse consuegros al darse la mano
al término de la ceremonia.

Description:
This story, written by Plácido Hernández Pérez in the Nahuatl (Aztec) language of Mecayapan
and Tatahuicapan, Veracruz, Mexico, tells about a young man who was required to perform
various tasks before he could get married. It describes a number of customs that are no longer
part of the Mecayapan and Tatahuicapan culture, such as the setting of tasks for
the prospective groom, and the way in which he would bow before each invited guest.
Some other customs are still observed, such as having the parents of the wedding couple
shake each others' hands at the close of the ceremony to officially become co-parents-in-law.
