EQUIP Training

SIL Australia

Kangaroo Ground, Victoria, Australia

EQUIP Training exists to train intercultural workers in the areas of language learning, linguistics, translation, literacy, and other language related roles. EQUIP is committed to providing flexible, accredited courses, while at the same time encouraging spiritual resilience so as to establish strong foundations for service in a variety of local or international contexts.

EQUIP offers both Diploma and Graduate Diploma level studies. The EQUIP Summer School (January/February) provides necessary skills and confidence for those who need to learn another language or plan to work cross-culturally. EQUIP offers a longer course (one year in length) for those planning to serve in a language development role such as translation, linguistics, literacy or language documentation.

EQUIP’s courses are delivered full-time or part-time face-to-face, or full-time with a field project component. Several subjects are available by distance.  EQUIP's training focus is changing as Australia becomes much more integrated with the whole Asia/Pacific region and many graduates are now taking up roles in Asia as well as in the Pacific.

EQUIP Training is situated in the North-East, idyllic green wedge of Melbourne city.  Melbourne is a truly multicultural city with a huge variety of people groups from all round the world.

EQUIP Training (formerly South Pacific Summer Institute of Linguistics, SPSIL) is the trading name under which SIL Australia delivers its education activities.
