Tyndale University College Toronto, Ontario, Canada Tyndale University College offers a major in Linguistics consisting of 12 linguistics courses (36 credit hours) and a minor in Linguistics consisting of 8 courses (24 credit hours). The course offerings include Intro to Linguistics, Phonetics, Phonology, Syntax, Morphology, and Sociolinguistics, among others. The Summer Program in Language Related Ministry will be offered from June 17 - August 15, 2013 at Tyndale University College. This 9-week program consists of four courses: Phonetics, Language and Society, Language & Culture Acquisition, and Global Christianity. These courses can be taken individually or as a package. The summer program is a great way to get a taste of linguistics and language learning while receiving training that is foundational for serving in various ministries such as Bible translation or literacy work. Academics The primary language of instruction for this program is English. Courses in this program can be taken apart from the degree. This program prepares students to begin functioning in the following role(s) in language work: Linguistics Technician This program offers foundational courses that prepare the student to also serve in a number of other potential language development roles with SIL, including translation, literacy, linguistics, scripture engagement, language assessment, and arts & ethnomusicology.
