Tyndale University College offers a major in Linguistics consisting of 12 linguistics courses (36 credit hours) and a minor in Linguistics consisting of 8 courses (24 credit hours). The course offerings include Intro to Linguistics, Phonetics, Phonology, Syntax, Morphology, and Sociolinguistics, among others.

The Summer Program in Language Related Ministry will be offered from June 23 - August 8, 2014 at Tyndale University College.  This 7-week program consists of four courses: Phonetics, Language and Society, Language & Culture Acquisition, and Developing Intercultural Competency for Ministry .  These courses can be taken individually or as a package.   The summer program is a great way to get a taste of linguistics and language learning while receiving training that is foundational for serving in various ministries such as Bible translation or literacy work.  For more information, please contact the program registrar, Rachel Elyas (email: rachel_elyas@wycliffe.ca phone: 403-200-2731).

This program prepares students to begin functioning in the following role(s) in language work:

This program offers foundational courses that prepare the student to also serve in a number of other potential language development roles with SIL, including translationliteracylinguisticsscripture engagementlanguage assessment, and arts & ethnomusicology.
