Description:
A description of the properties of a construction in the Seri language in which two inflected verbs occur in close-knit sequence, the second of which is a verb that is interpreted as a phasal verb. This construction (referred to as the Phasal Verb Construction) is compared and contrasted with other constructions in the language, in particular three superficially similar constructions — the ubiquitous “chained clause” construction, the Indirect Discourse Construction and the Situational Construction.
