Description:
For the singing of Subanen songs, certain venues and situations are appropriate, while others are proscribed. Some songs named in this text are sung at a wedding, and others during a visit from a long-lost friend, a sacrificial ceremony, or a funeral, when a dirge is sung to help mourners express and release their sorrow. Still others are sung when one is baby-sitting or in need of diversion from overwork in the fields. This text, in combination with its companion SITX141.TXT, describes the functions of approximately two dozen known Subanen tunes.
