Abstract:
The received wisdom is that Gavião, Cinta Larga, and Zoró are very closely related. Most reseachers consider Zoró and Gavião to be the same language. Surui is seen as a quite divergent member of the group. However, the comparative method seems to indicate Zoró is most similar to Surui. The most divergent language appears to be Gavião.
