Dadaba kagaya toyiy: Madha 2

The contents of this book covers the 1st part of the grade 1 national curriculum for mathematics. It is preceded by Dadaba kagaya toyiy Madha 1 , the first maths book covering the numbers up to 10 and succeeded by the 3nd maths book for grade 1 Dadaba kagaya toyiy Madha 3, which covers the rest of the grade 1 curriculum. The books are designed in a workbook manner to provide the teachers with the appropriate exercises and to allow for irregular attendance patterns. Thus the students can pick up where they have left off and, with some help from an instructor, use the workbooks as self-study books. The nomadic lifestyle of the Suri people causes some drop-out, which occurs most during the first year of learning. Therefore, the maths course for grade 1 is split into 3 workbooks so the materials will not be wasted unnecessarily. The Suri people base mathematical operations on a system of 20s. Following the national curriculum this maths book teaches the decimal system. The didactical approach pays tribute to the fact that Suri learners are tackling the numbers over 20 in two different mathematical systems and therefore need extra excersises to practise the transfer.
