Description:
After discussing cultural relativism, the author evaluates the impact on Tzeltal society of the change in belief systems resulting from the conversion of many of the Tzeltals to Christianity in the 1940s and 1950s. The evaluation is organized around a set of eight "pan-human" values used to describe the "before and after" changes in Tzeltal culture, especially pertaining to witchcraft.
