Étude sociolinguistique de la langue Zirenkel du Tchad

En novembre 2000 une enquête sociolinguistique a été effectuée parmi les communautés zirenkel basées dans la Sous-préfecture Mongo-Rural dans le Département du Guéra, Tchad.

L'enquête avait les objectifs suivants:

• Investiguer les relations entre le zirenkel et d'autres langues
• Etablir s'il y a une compréhension inhérente entre les locuteurs zirenkel et ceux des langues avoisinantes telles que le moubi
• Investiguer le bilinguisme en général parmi les zirenkel
• Evaluer leur niveau de connaissance de l'Arabe Tchadien et des langues avoisinantes Dadjo et Dangaléat
• Déterminer si le zirenkel est en train d'être remplacé par un autre parler dans un ou plusieurs domaines (vitalité)
• Investiguer si les zirenkel s'intéressent à un programme d'alphabétisation, soit en zirenkel, soit en une autre langue qu'ils connaissent bien.

In November 2000, a sociolinguistic survey was carried out among the Zirenkel communities in the sub-prefecture of Mongo-Rural in the Guera Department of Chad.

The survey had the following goals:

• to investigate the relations between Zirenkel and the other languages
• to determine whether there is a basic understanding among the speakers of Zirenkel and the neighboring languages such as Moubi
• to investigate bilingualism in general among the Zirenkel
• to evaluate their level of understanding of Chadian Arabic and the neighboring languages of Dadjo and Dangaleat
• to determine if Zirenkel is in the process of being replaced by another language in one or several domains (the language vitality)
• to investigate if the Zirenkel are interested in a literacy program, either in Zirenkel or in another language that they know well.
