Abstract:
A rapid appraisal language survey, including a modified Group Recorded Text Test with Bafut [ALCAM 912] and Mankon [ALCAM 913] texts, was carried out in February and May 2001 in the Mundum [ALCAM 911] language community of the Northwest Province of Cameroon.
Objectives of the research were to:
- Assess certain sociolinguistic factors,
- Make a preliminary assessment of Mundum speakers' comprehension of Bafut and Mankon and other languages adjacent to Mundum, and
- Identify the attitudes of village residents about potentially reading and writing one or more of these languages.
