Abstract:
Papua New Guineans who are already somewhat literate in Tok Pisin or English often find it challenging to read their own vernacular language. They need some way to get over the hurdle of vernacular reading fluency. The same hurdle is significant when it comes to the actual use of the vernacular Scriptures. The Nyindrou language program of Manus Province has found an exciting way to promote both through vernacular reading contests.
