SIL's dedication to language development past and present
The people who speak Lubwisi are called Babwisi. The purpose of the survey was to gain an understanding of how well the Babwisi and the Baamba comprehended Rutooro, how much and under what circumstances they use their own languages, and to gauge the people’s desire for translated Scriptures and reading materials in the local language.
The intelligibility scores plus self-reported bilingual ability in Rutooro on the general questionnaires provide the most convincing evidence for need of literature in Lubwisi. There is a definite need for Bible translation and literacy in the Lubwisi language.
