Description:
"Chapter Six: Adult education. In what way is the Institute assisting with educational development of adult communities? What is the scope of literacy work and what is there beyond simple literacy? It is the desire of the Institute to stimulate literate communities in the aras where we work. We will not do this single-handedly but in conjunction with many other agencies that are interested in similar goals. There are two kinds of hurdles to overcome: (1) preparing adequate materials in sufficient quantity to sustain a reading campaign and (2) training teachers to conduct classes and to develop a reading campaign. SIL efforts have been involved in both areas of need but probably greater emphasis has been placed on the first."
