Abstract:
Wordlists were obtained from speakers of Lampang, Chiang Rai, and Chiang Mai dialects of Kammuang, as well as a speaker of Bangkok Central Thai. The words were recorded and analyzed instrumentally in an effort to graphically represent the tonal variation of the Kammuang dialects involved, as well as the overall contrasts between Kammuang and Central Thai. The tonal systems of Chiang Rai and Lampang were found to be virtually identical to one another.
