Abstract:

In the Philippines there are 29 known language groups of "Negritos," the aboriginal peoples of that island nation. These Negritos, found on several islands, number in total about 31,000. All of them are classed as hunter-gatherers or former hunter-gatherers. Ten of these groups are found scattered along the eastern coast of Luzon in the largest area of rain forest in the Philippines. These ten groups call themselves and their language 'Agta'. They number together about 10,500. This bibliography includes every reference known to the compilers that is publicly available that would be of academic interest to students of Negrito societies. References below include unpublished papers presented at national or international conferences only if formal copies of those papers were distributed at the conference and are in the possession of the compilers.
