Journal highlights research on social dynamics of language in Melanesia
A special issue of the International Journal of the Sociology of Language offers new insights into the social dynamics of language use in Melanesia—a region with the highest concentration of languages in the world. SIL linguists were involved as issue editors and contributing scholars.
Rapid Word Collection: an updated approach to dictionary creation
A new research group is working to refine a promising method for compiling dictionaries, one that is accessible to both researchers and community members without linguistics training. A recent workshop resulted in 10,000 unique entries from the Buli language of Ghana.
