Welcome to the Office of International Relations

SIL International has served minority language communities for nearly 70 years through literacy, translation and research. Applying linguistic expertise and grassroots experience, SIL seeks to improve the quality of life for local people.

The Office of International Relations is located in Washington DC and represents SIL International to NGO's, governments and multilateral institutions in that city as well as New York, Paris and Geneva. Three of the office's major functions are:
 

• To equip personnel in international relations to represent SIL worldwide.
   
• To facilitate strategic alliances, cooperative initiatives, and partnerships with key publics that further benefit minority language communities.
   
• To develop and strengthen relationships with diplomats and government representatives that will promote cooperation and enhance goodwill.
