SIL Australia

Kangaroo Ground, Victoria, Australia

SIL Australia (SILA) trains intercultural workers in the areas of language and culture learning, linguistics, translation, literacy, survey and Scripture engagement for various language related roles. SILA is committed to providing flexible, accredited courses, while at the same time encouraging spiritual resilience so as to establish strong foundations for service in a variety of local or international contexts.

SILA offers undergraduate and graduate and level studies, accredited through a partner organisation Eastern College Australia. SILA also offers a four-week non-accredited summer program (January - February) called Launch which provides necessary skills and confidence for those who need to learn another language or plan to work cross-culturally. The yearlong degree programs are for those planning to serve in a language development role in translation, linguistics, literacy and education, survey, or language documentation.

SILA’s programs are delivered full-time or part-time, face-to-face. A number of units are available by distance.

SIL Australia is situated in the north-east, idyllic green wedge of Melbourne city.  Melbourne is a truly multicultural city with a huge variety of people groups from all round the world.
