Description:
This is a summary document for a preliminary lexicostatisitc analysis of Khamti Shan (Burmese Tai Khamti) with 4 locations in Myanmar: Namti, Homalin, Hkamti, and Putao. These four wordlists were elicited from speakers that live in these Burmese locations and added to wordlists from Khamti speakers from northeast India (Harris) and (Weidert). The researchers involved in eliciting the Burmese data are Doug Inglis (lecturer at Payap University), Brian Migliazza (lecturer at Payap University), and Khoi Lam Tang (graduate student at Payap University). These 108 words were chosen to be used for data collection as an amalgamation of a variety of existent wordlists options. The paper attached at the end of this document describes the selection criteria to arrive at these particular 108 words selected for elicitation. The data from these 6 locations were placed in a lexicostatistic analysis representing the token count and percentage of lexical overlap between the 6 locations.
